Home to Lowhall

The Vets managed to get a league game arranged again at Redbridge College to face Lowhall but this time it counted as our home fixture. After winning 5-2 the previous week and not playing as well as we can the challenge was to play better and maybe achieve a better result. Again as last week the early exchanges were pretty even but as the game went on we started to dominate and this eventually led to a good near post corner from H being headed home by our Top Scorer Taju to make it 1-0. We had good chances for Martin Treadway and Steve Hunter but even though they showed good skill to make the chance unfortunately they just missed the target. Gary Doodes in goal was getting bored as the defence were well organised and not giving anything away. Later in the first half Tony Graves was put through and after his miss of last week this time showed a killer instinct to finish well with his right foot to make it 2-0 and that’s how it stayed up to half time.

In the second half we again dominated with Barry making many changes to give everyone a game and it was good to see Baz coming on and playing well and was very unlucky not to score. Our pressure paid off again when Martin Treadway made it 3-0 and further goals came from Trevor Burton & Roger Gayle to make it 5 – 0 at the final whistle.

Hilary played well in centre midfield and later at left back. Paul Obwinko shows a passion to pass the ball and is playing well. So all round a better performance from everyone and now we must maintain this as we are now moving into the second half of the season and tougher matches. We now have a must win match at home to Cricketers Horndon on Saturday. Barry’s Man of the Match: Kevin Whitworth !!!!
