Horndon

The Vets had their last pre-season friendly against

Horndon a team in Division Three South of our League so we felt this would be a good match to play before our 1st League game.

On a very hot day in a lovely park in Brentwood our game kicked off with us having the better of the early exchanges and this led to us taking the lead from a H cross that led to makeshift striker Martyn Tribe making it 1-0.

A fantastic rightfooted volley strike from striker !!! Martyn Tribe made it 2-0 and fellow striker T got in on the act making it 3-0 at the break.

The second half proved to be a closer affair with our opposition having a few chances of their own but our defence stayed tight and later in the half Tony Graves slotted one past the keeper to make it 4-0.

Overall Barry was pleased with the effort.

Keeper Gary Doodes and Centre Half Steve Hunter must be mentioned as two goals were made from a good goal kick from Gary which Steve headed on for our strikers to latch onto and score twice.

Felt maybe at times in the second half we lost our shape abit but maybe if our opposition had of been stronger then I`m sure we would have been more disciplined.

A win, 4 goals and a good confidence booster going into our Ist League match this week.
